For quite sometime I have been using the Elos Osmocontroller II on the 2 office aquariums (a system mini and a system 160) and I love these top off controllers. From a users stand point there is little that needs to be done with these, provided it is set up right from the beginning. Prior to Elos entering the US market, Elos had various different level controllers and I really felt the osmocontroller II was hard to beat because it just works. About a year ago, in a talk with Nick in Italy, we discussed a new osmocontroller that was being tested and I was immediately against it. Well that was until I got a sample of the proposed new unit. The new Osmocontroller Digital immediately impressed me. When I received it the first thing I noticed was the new "main unit".
It was small with slots on each side of the case to easily mount it , it had colored LEDs and a "M" (manual) button that is now flush with the rest of the front. In general, a very clean small unit that gave visual feedback that the Osmocontroller II did not.
Just a quick update on what is to come from Elos in the US. Elos Italy has been working hard to get the new products ready for all the countries Elos is now in and we are now starting to see these available. Last month we received the new Elos Expert Test kits (PO4 and K) and these are now available at your Elos dealer and online at MarineDepot.com, PremiumAquatics.com and AquariumSpecialty.com. If you are a retailer and would like information on carrying these new kits you can contact us and I can help or put you in contact with one of our distributors ( info [at] elosusa.com ).
For the new PO4 kit, I think people will enjoy this kit as the price is very good for a kit with this resolution and quality. It comes in a larger box, has a different chart that utilizes the new vials and viewer making it very easy to read the color changes.
We made it back and, I must say, it is always great to get back home.
I had a great time at Interzoo but now it's back to work. Today was spent going through the new prices and the expected arrivals of the new products. Here is a tentative schedule of new product availability in the US. These are just for the new products and this is just tentative but hopefully this will help answer some of the questions I received via email, while I was away.
As usual, the show comes and goes very fast. Now that the show is over and I have caught up on some sleep I figure it is a good time to write. I have a ton of photos and most were not taken by me - which is good - but by Filipe Oliveira. A special thanks to him for allowing me to use some of these photos. Before I get into details about the show I also want to take the time to acknowledge all the work the Elos team goes through to get ready for this show. While it would be easy to keep the display the same from show to show, Nick and the rest of the Elos team in Europe really put an unbelievable effort into keeping the display new an exciting each Interzoo and this year was no different.
So onto the new products:
I just returned after the first day of the show and I am absolutely exhausted!
We arrived in Nuremberg, Germany on Wednesday evening towards the end of the Elos setup. After getting a solid 3 hours of sleep, the first day of Interzoo 2010 began. I cannot say much about the rest of Interzoo as I was mostly busy in our booth, but Thursday was incredibily busy as it was a national holiday and the crowds were much larger than usual.
