As the focal point of your system, the aquarium needs to be both beautiful and safe. When an Elos aquarium is built we rely on our master tank builders, engineers and the finest materials to create the best aquarium available. While safety is our first priority, we take care of the smallest details to ensure the aquarium is beautiful and functional.
All "crystal clear" low iron glass. While most aquarium builders will offer this as an option, and in most cases only on certain panes, the Elos aquarium comes standard with low iron glass on all viewable panes of the aquarium. 1 Beyond choosing this glass, we carefully check and often reject panes of glass for even the smallest imperfections that will affect the optical clarity.
Elos uses a proprietary blend of adhesive to construct all Elos aquariums for strength and safety. As safety is a major concern, we start with only the freshest batch of adhesive matched with the highest quality low iron glass, at the proper thickness as the starting point.
Even with the proprietary adhesive and hand-selected glass, the Elos aquarium would not be what it is without the Elos design and engineering built into our aquariums. Unique features such as, the Elos overflow, the Elos seam guards and the Elos multi-piece double bottom, it becomes obvious that our concern is to build the safest aquarium possible. While many will try to replicate the look of an Elos aquarium, there are no short cuts to designing and building an aquarium that is as safe and beautiful as an Elos aquarium.
The Elos Overflow is both safe and functional. All of the Elos plumbing connected to the Elos POOL is hidden within the Elos Overflow. The Elos overflow protects the plumbing connections from accidents, unlike standard overflows, which have plumbing connections on the bottom of the aquarium where leaks can be catastrophic.
Elos seam guards are added to the bottom seams of the smaller (70,120) Elos Aquariums to offer extra protection on critical bottom seams. This is a standard safety feature on an Elos Aquarium at no additional cost. Safety and strength should not be an optional item.
The Elos multi-pane double bottom is found only on Elos larger aquariums (120xl,160m160xl,200xl) as an added protection against accidental impact but also to provide strength to the aquarium with the use of strong wave creating pumps, moderate seismic activity, long lasting strength, etc. This is a very tedious and expensive way to manufacture an aquarium but this process offers the unparalleled strength and safety found only in an Elos aquarium.
The Elos SQUARE is designed to blend perfectly with the Elos POOL for both function and style.
Because we utilize a unique overflow and bottom design in our aquariums, the Elos SQUARE is specifically designed to best support and work with the Elos aquarium and Elos plumbing.
The Elos SQUARE cabinet is also lower than most aquarium cabinets, to accentuate the beauty of the Elos aquarium and provide much easier access while maintaining your aquarium. In the past, aquarium cabinets were built tall to "hide" the unsightly top bracing of most standard aquariums, making them feel more like a "picture" and much more difficult to service. With an Elos SQUARE and Elos POOL, you can enjoy a completely new way of seeing an aquarium both through the glass and with a glimpse of the water surface from most viewing positions.
The standard Elos SQUARE is made with marine grade MDF and our own laminate designed to be highly water resistant.
The standard color of the stand is bone white, which blends with most spaces and allows the aquarium to be the main focus. The standard colors for the door(s) for the Elos cabinet are: black, wenge, silver or cherry. Some prefer to add a unique touch to their system and Elos offers a variety of custom color and finish options for the cabinet, doors and even some of our lighting.
The Elos SQUARE can be installed in a variety of ways, as it is designed to hide all the plumbing and most cables within the cabinet. While most will place their aquarium against a wall, Elos allows you to place your aquarium away from any wall without the need to route wires or plumbing outside of the cabinet. The back panel of the Elos SQUARE is also completely finished, unlike many aquarium cabinets that are left unfinished or completely open which can be both unsightly and very noisy.
The Elos Square has very discreet full-length ventilation on the top and bottom of the back panel which helps reduce the temperature and the humidity within the cabinet, a problem found in poorly designed aquarium cabinets.
As the main source of filtration, the Elos SUMP has to be very easy to use and understand. Beyond this, it has to perform well and compliment the overall finish of the aquarium. Unlike typical filters, the Elos SUMP is made specifically for the Elos cabinet and Elos Aquarium.
The Elos SUMP is made in glass with the same attention to detail as the display aquarium and all parts are designed to work with each element of the complete Elos System.
The Variable Velocity Chambers allow for a versatile, compact and efficient way to properly filter your aquarium. Each Sump includes, Main area where the NS Skimmer (Mechanical Filtraton) starts the filtering process that feeds to the:
At the center of the filtration is the Elos NS protein skimmer. Using our patented top down injection system, we provide improved efficiency over standard injection skimmers and far greater contact time and reliability over modified impeller (needle wheel) pumps.
To automate the task of topping off freshwater, Elos Systems include the OSMOCONTROLLER II and built in freshwater reservoir. (OSMOCONTROLLER II is sold separately for the Elos MINI)
The entirely new OSMOCONTROLLER Digital uses a patent pending sensor with no moving parts as the first measure of the water level in the SUMP. Most other systems will use multiple float switches or sensors to act as back up to the initial float switch, elos does not. We believe the float switch or sensor will always be the weak link as it is usually a moving part and/or in direct contact with the water, most of the time. To provide an adequate fail-safe the OSMOCONTROLLER Digital uses a small microprocessor in combination with our patent pending sensor to control the pump and monitor the top off of your system. In the event of a fault such as an empty reservoir, a damaged pump or kinked tube, the microprocessor will recognize this and a red alarm LED will indicate the problem and stop pumping until the problem is fixed and the controller can be reset. The OSMOCONTROLLER Digital also has a manual top off button that can be used to use the system as a pump for occasional water changes and to fill a container with RO/DI water easily.
The set up of the OSMOCONTROLLER Digital is very simple. It works with most sumps without the need for programming and with our sensor design has a built in buffer for waves and small changes in the sump that will normally cause a top off system to unnecessarily top off, which will shorten the useable life of the top off pump.
